Moors Farm

Moors Farm is a proposal for the conversion of a small barn in Houghton le Spring.

 

The conversion creates a guest bedroom, en-suite and separate living space. The project also includes the construction of an attached garage and a workshop / garden store.

The strategy for the project was to preserve and enhance the character of the barn as much as possible. Existing brick built lean-to sheds were crumbling and have been demolished. The barn will be carefully altered and restored before the addition of the new workshop and store.

The new structures will be clad in cedar shingles, stained red to reference the red brick and bright red doors of the old sheds. Shingles were chosen to be reminiscent of the "fuzzy" texture of the ivy that was beginning to overrun the dilapidated roof of the barn.
